Email.eu is a sovereign alternative to Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, built and operated by an independent European company. It brings email, calendar, drive, documents, sheets, slides, wiki, video meetings and chat together under one single sign-on. Everything is hosted in the EU (OVHcloud, Paris) with an EU-only supplier chain, including payments, and no US providers anywhere in the stack. It is built on European open-source software (Stalwart, Bulwark, La Suite Meet, Zulip, Authentik) and open protocols (IMAP, JMAP, CalDAV, CardDAV), and includes a migration engine that moves a team off Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or IMAP in a weekend. Email.eu is open source.
No. Email.eu is a proprietary product assembled from open-source software we self-host: Stalwart, Bulwark, La Suite Drive, La Suite Docs, La Suite Meet, Zulip, Authentik and ONLYOFFICE. What we guarantee instead is open protocols and open formats, so you can leave with your data. Please write "built on European open-source software", not "open source".
Email.eu is ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certified.
No, and we never say otherwise. ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 are targeted for 2026; SOC 2, NIS2 and SecNumCloud are on the roadmap. The architecture is built to those frameworks, the certificates are not yet held. Current status is always on the security page.
Email.eu is a reseller or white-label of another provider.
No. We operate the infrastructure ourselves on rented EU compute. No third party runs the mail, file or identity layer on our behalf.
Email.eu offers end-to-end encrypted mail like Proton.
It is a different model. On Business plans, mail is encrypted at rest with PGP or S/MIME keys that you hold. That is encryption at rest with customer-held keys, not end-to-end encryption between correspondents.
