Your own AI assistant, connected to your work

Connect Le Chat, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code or a model you run yourself. Ask it about your mail, calendar, files and chat, and let it prepare drafts for you to send.

You can now connect an AI assistant to your Email.eu workspace. It works through MCP, the open standard assistants use to reach other software. You add your workspace's address to your assistant, sign in, and it can look things up for you and prepare your work.

You moved your mail to Europe for a reason, and connecting an AI to it shouldn't undo that. So you choose who reads it. We didn't build an assistant of our own: there's no model inside Email.eu, and nothing reads your mail unless you connect something that does.

Which assistants can you connect?

What an assistant reads goes to whoever runs it, under their terms. Email.eu keeps your data in the EU, so your choice of assistant decides whether it stays there. We'd start at the top of this list:

  • Le Chat by Mistral. Run by a French company, and the one assistant we mark as EU in Settings.
  • A model on your own computer. With an app such as LM Studio, nothing leaves your machine. Smaller open models, including Mistral's, run on a good laptop.
  • A model on your own server. On-premise, or with a European host you trust. Any assistant that speaks MCP and signs in with OAuth can connect, and no AI company is involved at all.

Treat any assistant you don't run yourself like another supplier: read its terms, and check it fits your company's privacy rules. And if your team already uses Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Claude Code, those work too. They're run by American companies, and we say so when you allow one.

What can you ask it?

Anything you'd otherwise go and look up yourself:

  • "What did Jan send about the offer?" It searches your mail and your team inboxes, and links back to the message.
  • "When are Anna and I both free on Thursday?" It checks your calendar and the calendars colleagues share with you.
  • "Summarise the plan doc." It reads the docs, sheets and presentations in Drive that you can open.
  • "Reply to Pieter that Tuesday works." It writes a draft in the conversation, from the right address, with your signature.
  • "Put what we decided in chat into a doc." It reads the channel and writes a new doc in your own files.

What can it see?

Exactly what you can see in Email.eu, and nothing more. The assistant signs in as you, and each person connects their own. It can read your mail and the team inboxes you're in, your calendar, your contacts, the files you can open, your channels and your own direct messages. A colleague's private mail stays out of reach, because it's out of your reach too.

Can it send email for me?

No. An assistant can't send, schedule or delete mail. There's no way for it to do so, however it's asked, and our tests check that it stays that way.

It can write, if you allow that when you connect it. A draft waits in your Drafts for you to read, change and send. In a team inbox the draft lands in the team's Drafts, where colleagues can read it too. It can also comment on a team inbox's conversations, add events to your calendar and write docs in Drive.

Your assistant writes the reply. You press Send.

Two things reach other people the moment they happen: invitations to an event, and posts in chat. Both are off until you turn them on yourself. With invitations off, the assistant's events have only you on them. With chat off, it posts nothing and tells you where to change that.

If you have a draft open while your assistant tries to change it, it's told to wait, so nothing you're typing gets replaced.

Who decides?

Assistants are off in every workspace until an owner or admin allows them, one by one, in Settings. Allow Le Chat and nothing else, for example, and that's the only one people can connect.

One thing to know: to us, apps on people's computers all look the same, so allowing a local model allows the other desktop apps too. Assistants on other websites are one group too, so allowing your own server means allowing the rest of that group. If nothing may leave Europe, allow only Le Chat, or make sure only your own model is installed.

Then each person decides for themselves. When you connect, you see what the assistant can read and whether it also asks to write, and you can keep it to reading only. Settings lists what you've connected and when it was last used, and Disconnect stops it at once.

Whatever an assistant writes shows in the activity log as the person, with the assistant beside it: "Anna via Le Chat wrote a draft". Its chat messages and team comments show its name too, so everyone can tell.

How do you connect one?

It takes about a minute:

  • Allow it. An owner or admin chooses the assistant in Settings, under Access, AI assistants.
  • Copy your address. It's your workspace's address with /mcp after it, like https://yourcompany.email.eu/mcp. Settings shows yours under AI assistants.
  • Add it to your assistant. In Le Chat, that's Intelligence, Connectors. For a local model, add it as an MCP server in an app such as LM Studio. Other assistants have their own place for it, and the Help guide in the app shows each one.
  • Sign in. Email.eu opens, shows what the assistant can do, and you choose Connect.

Questions

Can I connect a European AI assistant to my work email?

Yes. Le Chat by Mistral, a French company, connects to your Email.eu mail, calendar, files and chat through MCP. An admin allows it in Settings, and each person signs in with their own account.

Can I use a self-hosted or on-premise model?

Yes. A model on your own computer or server can connect through any app that speaks MCP and signs in with OAuth, such as LM Studio. What it reads then goes to no AI company at all.

Does Email.eu have a built-in AI assistant?

No. Email.eu has no AI model of its own. You connect the assistant you choose, through MCP, the open standard for letting AI assistants use other software.

Does Email.eu train AI on my mail?

No. We don't have a model to train. If you connect an assistant someone else runs, what it reads goes to that company under its terms, so check those before you allow it.

Can an AI assistant send email from my account?

No. It can write drafts if you allow it, and you send them yourself. We made that choice on purpose: an assistant reads mail from strangers, and one of those mails could try to talk it into sending something.

Can we stop people connecting an assistant?

Yes, and that's where you start: assistants are off until an owner or admin allows them. Stop allowing one and it stops working at once.
